Aleksandr ‘NoPlanB’ Mordvinov won the PocketFives Monthly Leaderboard for the second time in three months

In a month that saw many of the top pros spend the first two weeks in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, Russia’s Aleksandr ‘NoPlanB’ Mordvinov, ranked #3 in the world, struck gold once again.

For the second time in three months, Mordvinov won the PocketFives Monthly Leaderboard. He won the leaderboard in May with 3,899 points and accomplished the same feat this time around with 2,523 points. He has half of Russia’s four Monthly Leaderboard wins.

“It was a pretty good month,” he said. “I played a lot after vacation in June and ran decently. I plan to keep it going.”

All told, Mordvinov had 101 tracked in the money finishes during the month for exactly $172,000 total winnings, an average of $1,702 per cash.

The Russian started July off with a bang, taking down the PokerStars $320 Saturday KO on July 2 for $15,000. The next day, he won the site’s Big $109. Also in July, Mordvinov won the $20,000 Octopus on 888, the PokerStars.fr Sunday High Roller, the $109 No Limit Hold’em Progressive Six-Max on PokerStars twice, the BlackChip HS Wednesday, and a $162 No Limit Hold’em Ultra Deep Stack on PokerStars.

Not surprisingly, Mordvinov is all the way up to #3 worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings, his highest position ever, and #1 in his home country. His $172,000 in winnings in July pushed him over $3.8 million in lifetime cashes.

You can find him across the world’s largest online poker rooms playing under the user name ‘EvnomiYa‘ and, interestingly enough, he did not appear in the top 100 in the June Leaderboard race.

Second place in July went to Hungary’s ‘greengrass67‘, who with 2,452 points was only 71 points behind Mordvinov. Like Mordvinov, ‘greengrass67’ is at his apex in the rankings at #26. ‘greengrass67′, the top-ranked Hungarian online poker player, had five online MTT wins during the month, the largest of which was worth $23,000 for taking down the Big $109 on July 24. He also won the partypoker Heavyweight Rocky, partypoker Heavyweight Super Knockout, PokerStars $320 No Limit Hold’em Six Max, and partypoker High Roller.

Joao ‘joaomathias’ Mathias finished in third place last month

One-hundred points behind ‘greengrass67’ on the July leaderboard was Joao ‘joaomathias’ Mathias, who had 2,346 points, good for third place. Mathias is ranked #7 in the world and is a two-time Monthly Leaderboard champion. He won the PokerStars Super-Sized Sunday last month for $32,000 along with the site’s Sunday Supersonic for another $30,000.

Mathias is over $8.1 million in career online tournament winnings, the 12th highest total of anyone, and started August off with a bang by winning the PokerStars Super Tuesday two days ago for $75,000.

The #1 ranked online poker player in the world, Sweden’s ‘C Darwin2‘, finished in fourth in the July MPLB race with 2,342 points, missing out on third place by only four points. He was ranked #1 almost the entire month of July and held down the fort thanks to wins in the PokerStars Sunday Grand, PokerStars Bounty Builder, and Winamax High Roller.

Rounding out the top five was Artem ‘veeea’ Vezhenkov, who had 2,334 points. Vezhenkov is a two-time MPLB champion and also won his fourth PocketFives Triple Crown last month. He had seven tracked wins in July and finished second in the Pokertars Super-Sized Sunday on July 10 for $18,000, his largest score of the period.
