The second and third events on the schedule of this year’s 2024 PokerGO Tour PLO Series saw a Finnish masterclass and a Poker Hall of Famer the hero as Eelis Parssinen and Daniel Negreanu both took home PGT PLO titles in Las Vegas. With other players such as Isaac Kempton, Josh Arieh and Dylan Weisman all coming close, it was an entertaining weekend in the PokerGO Studio as hundreds of thousands of dollars were won in Sin City.

Parssinen Pushes for Glory

Event #2 of the 2024 PGT PLO Series saw Eelis Parssinen grab glory after beating Isaac Kempton heads-up for the trophy. Event #2 came hot on the heels of Event #1 which was won by Allan Le for $161,000. This time around, the action took place in Pot Limit Omaha with a Bounty element to the game and that meant Parssinen’s total winnings were $153,825.

It was a very tough set-up for the first final, with Josh Arieh on the list, along with Ronald Keijzer, Lautaro Guerra and Bradley Ruben. Sam Soverel had been the bubble boy in Event #2, crashing out in 16^th place before the top 15 players in the 103-entry field. Inside the money places, other such as Joao Simao (15^th for $10,300), Event #1 champion Allan Le (9^th for $15,540) and his heads-up victim in that opening event Bryce Yockey (8^th for $20,600) all fell just short of the final table.

Josh Arieh isn’t a six-time WSOP bracelet winner for nothing, and he will have been disappointed to crash out in sixth place, albeit with healthy bounties that bumped his winnings to $3,250 in total. Arieh’s bust-out was followed by that of Ruben, Guerra and Keijzer before Isaac Kempton provided the toughest test for Parssinen heads-up. The Finnish player got the better of his American opponent, a pair of tens surviving when Kempton missed all 13 outs on an unlucky river.

Kid Poker Claims the Crown

Event #3 was claimed by the Canadian Poker Hall of Famer, Kid Poker himself Daniel Negreanu. There were 118 entrants in the third event of the series and with each of them paying $5,000 to play, that meant a massive top prize of $147,500. A total of 17 places were paid and making the money places were players such as Alex Condon (16^th for $11,800), Tyler Brown (13^th) and Alex Livingston (9^th for $17,700).

Steven Forman was the player who busted in eighth place, cashing for $23,600 when he lost to Anuj Agarwal. That left seven to battle it out from the final table, but only six would make the last day. Bruno Furth led the way on 4.6 million chips, with Agarwal in second place on the leaderboard with 2.5 million. Negreanu was in third on 2.2 million but when he busted Sean Troha in seventh, that left six and Kid Poker had the chip lead from Agarwal instead.

Lance Patel was the first player to leave the final six, and he was swiftly followed by Dylan Weisman in fifth for $38,350. Curtis Muller busted in fourth place for $50,150 as Agarwal stepped up the pressure on Negreanu at the top of the counts, and when Bruno Furth crashed out with top two pair against Negreanu’s trip nines, he took a lead of better than 2:1 into the last duel. Agarwal took the lead and had chances to win, but Negreanu battled back and with , managed to stay ahead of Agarwal’s when the board fell, a pair of kings was good enough for Kid Poker to grab all the candy.

Le in the Lead After First Three Events

After three events of the 2024 PGT PLO Series, Negreanu’s win was not enough to grab him the overall lead as his 148 points, while great, isn’t number one. Eelis Parssinen topped the All-Time great but even he isn’t quite at the top of the leaderboard. Allen Le is the leader and on 183 points, he is 8 points ahead of Parssinen.

Others to place on the top 10 leaderboard include Bryce Yockey (126 points) and Isaac Kempton, while the Spanish player Lautaro Guerra has cashed twice and will be a danger to the top of the leaderboard if he can keep up that consistency.
