Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz won in the Triton Poker Series London for over $600,000.

Two Big Winners Kicked Off the Triton Poker Series in London as Canadian Luc Greenwood and German Fedor Holz both won $25,000-entry high roller events at the expense of legends in te game.

Greenwood Hails ‘Amazing’ Victory

With 107 players entering the opening event of the Triton Poker Series in London at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House high-stakes professional Lucas ‘Luc’ Greenwood was the eventual winner, as 55 rebuys contributed to a prizepool that awarded a $897,000 top prize. At the eight-handed final table, it was Sam Grafton who busted first, claiming $91,000 in eighth place as the Arsenal soccer fan failed to win a title in his home capital of London.

After the exits of Pablo Silva from Brazil and Aleks Ponakovs from Latvia, just six players remained, with Danish player Henrick Hecklen one of them. He ran short, however, and missed out on the final stages when he slid out in fifth place for a score of $271,000. Hecklen, who has almost $12 million in live tournament earnings alone, couldn’t make it to the top four, but Wai Kiat Lee did, winning $339,800 in the process. After Oliver Bothell lost out in third, Manuel Zapf was beaten heads-up by a stunned Greenwood, who cashed for $897,000 as winner, the best cash of his career.

“It feels amazing,” Luc Greenwood said after winning. “I remember when I walked in here with my girlfriend and I saw all the faces on the wall, I thought, ‘I’m not up there yet.’ I didn’t think it would happen this fast. Normally I feel that these things don’t happen to me. But it actually happened. It’s pretty amazing.”

Fedor Holz Wins First Triton Trophy for Six Years

Winning the Triton Poker London Event #2 title, German high roller Fedor Holz won the $25,000 buy-in Seven-Handed No-Limit Hold’em event for a top prize of $609,853. Toppling the in-form double bracelet winner Chris Brewer heads-up, there were 120 entries in this event, with Brewer taking home a bumper runner-up prize of $600,647 after an ICM deal was agreed between the pair before the final duel began.

Fedor Holz was a young phenom, and aged just 23, the young German won tournaments like they were going out of fashion in 2016. Banking over $16.1 million in that year alone, Holz has diversified his life’s pursuits since then, investing in companies and pioneering the Pokercode app along with Matthias Eibinger among other directions.

Without a Triton win in six years, Holz bagged the win in London, his adopted home over several recent years.

“It’s really the competition and the love for the game,” Holz said when asked by Triton’s Ali Nejad how he keeps his poker mojo. “I’m sad when I bust out, not necessarily because I’m missing out on the money but because I can’t continue playing. When it ends, there’s a little moment where you realise it’s over and you switch to real life again.”

Here’s what he said after the victory in full.
